Initiated by david energies in the 2000s and co-developed with the manufacturer Nordex, the Vihiersois wind farm is the largest wind project in the Maine-et-Loire region and is now operated by a Swiss utility.

Planning for this windfarm began in the mid 2000s and the farm was co-developped with Nordex, until a local cooperative formed to buy the project. This windfarm was the first in the region to be owned 100% by local citizens.

This windfarm integrates well with the landscape and is situated near the windfarm Fouy. Together these windfarms frame one of the major ridges of the landscape and help provide energy for the then new industrial sites around Chemillé.

The four turbines form a soft halfcircle and integrate nicely into the landscape of the Gardes ridge.

These turbines were the newest and biggest on-shore windturbines in Europe at the time of construction in 2008. With the location near the Hamburg harbor with its container terminals and heavy industry the power generated here doesn't have to travel far.

Our first windfarm was built south of Hamburg with the state of the art turbines in 2002. Today, 15 years later the output of current turbines would be at least 50% higher on the same footprint.
